Do tickets have to be booked in advance?
Not compulsory – especially if the date of travel is not definite it is recommended to buy the tickets at the tickets office directly.

Reservations can be done either by telephone under phone no. 0049 (0)461-86432, by e-mail to booking@frs.es or online at www.frs.es.
Are the internet prices different from the prices on-site?
No. No matter if you book online, by telephone or on-site, the prices are fixed and do not differ.
Where can I park my car in Tarifa?
FRS does not hold own car parks. Passengers who wish to travel to Tanger without a vehicle, can park their vehicle on a free, unguarded car park directly behind the ticket office. It is in close vicinity to the local police station.
Which length may my vehicle have?
Please note the following maximum lengths:
Car1: vehicles up to 6 m length and max. 1.80 m height
Car2: vehicles up to 6 m length and at least 1.80 m height
Motorbikes (also with sidecar): max. 3 m length
Motor caravans: max. 10m length and 4 m height
Trailers/caravans: max. 7 m length
Transporters: max. 14 m length
Busses: max. 12 m length
Lorries: max. 16 m length – due to customs dearance we may only ferry empty lorries.
No exemptions are allowed.
Can I take my pet with me on board?
FRS allows to take pets only under two conditions:

1. Either the animal stays during the whole passage in your closed vehicle.
2. Or, the owner brings an own dog box in which the animal has to stay during the crossing.
The box with the animal stays on the car deck during the passage. Animals are not allowed in the passenger rooms.

Important information: Animals which are needed for personal assistance (f.e. guide dogs) are exempted from the above regulation. In this case the owner is obliged to hold all necessary papers (for Spain as well as for Morocco).
Which travel documents do I need?
You need a passport which is valid for 6 months after entry.

Children need on arrival and departure either a child passport according to the new design or substed the previous child ID which has to show a photograph in any case.

Animals need a valid vaccination certificate and are chipped at best.

For your vehicle you need the insurance documents (green insurance card). Please ask your insurance company what you have to mind in case of an accident or damage abroad, and if further documents are necessary should the occasion arise.
Until when can I alter my booking?
The altering should happen up to 2 hours before departure. Otherwise the ticket is valid only for the primary booked departure.
What happens in case of a ship's stoppage?
In case the ship for which the ticket is valid does not sail for whatever reasons, the carrier is only obliged to refund the fare, there are no further responsibilities.
Time zones:
Morocco is in the same time zone as Great Britain, so one hour „after“ Central Europe. As there is no summer time, the difference is two hours from the end of March until the end of October.
Customs regulations:
On Spanish side customs inspections may occur. Please obey the following limitations for imported goods:
Tobacco products: 1 bar of cigarettes
Alcohol: 1 litre spirit with more than 22 % Vol. or
2 litres spirit with less than 22 % Vol.

Imported cars which will not be exported again (f.e. sale, accident) have to be declared. The import
of cash reserve of which the equivalent value exceeds 100,000.- Dirham (at present 8,706.19 €) is
mandatory to declare when entering Morocco.The import and export of the national currency in cash is only permitted up to a maximum amount of 1,000.- Dirham. On leaving the country Dirham stocks can be re-changed into foreign exchange under submission of the exchange certificate.

Vaccinations:
The Medical Service of the Foreign Office recommends as sensible vaccinations:
Protection against tetanus, diphteria, polio, hepatitis A; for long-term stays over 3 months also hepatitis B. Under special circumstances (f.e. a stay in the countryside, hunting, jogging) a vaccination against rabies and typhus may be sensible.
Currencies:
In Tarifa you can pay in Euro.
In Gibraltar you can pay in Euro and British Pound. 1 EUR = 0.7819 British (state: 18.03.2008).
In Morocco you can pay in Dirham. 1 EUR = 11.48 Moroccan Dirham (state: 18.03.2008).
Payment and tips in Morocco:
The national currency is Dirham and it's unexchangeable out of the country. You can pay by your VISA or Maestro card everywhere you find the ATM Logo on the credit card terminals. In cities payment by credit card is usually no problem. Aditionally you can exchange money in banks and big hotels. In most of the shops Euro can be exchanged directly. Hotels, restaurants and boutiques accept most credit cards.

Tips are traditional in Morocco and are an extra income for the traders.
Telecommunication and electricity:
The use of mobile phones is generally no problem in Morocco. Please poss. check the availability with your mobile phone provider. You find internet access in numerous internet-cafés. Most of these are provided with DSL, and the price is less than one Euro per hour.

The power supply system is running with 220 volt and the plugs are identical with those in Europe.
Can I take my hired car to Morocco?
Our ticket office staff helps you to organize a hired car on Moroccan or Spanish side.
Usually a hired car may not be taken to Spain and Morocco.
Can I embark in the vessel with a pet?
FRS will accept pets on board the vessels only in two cases:

1. The pet must stay inside the owner's car in the garage during all the travel.
2. The owner may bring a cage for the pet and that case must stay in the garage during all the trip.

FRS will not permit pets in passenger area.


Importante note: Animals for personal assistance for handicapped persons are excluded from this procedure.
It is the responsibility of the owner to be in possession of all certificates or documents of the animal needed for both countries (Spain or Morocco).
What currency can be used to pay the tickets?
In Tarifa you can pay in Euros. On Gibraltar you can pay with Euros or Sterling Pounds. In Morocco you can pay in Dirhams.
What currency can I use to pay my shoppings in Morocco?
Preferably you should use Dirhams, which you can change first arrived. (Nevertheless do many shops accept Euros).
Are there elevators for disabled persons?
Yes! The best is that you indicate when booking that you are travelling with a disabled person, and we will make sure that you will receive help.
Do I need my passport to travel to Morocco?
You need your passport to enter in Morocco. With the 1 day trips with us, the passport is not necessary.
Duty Free Shopping?
You may pass a pack cigarettes and 2 liters of alcohol with fewer than 22% or 1 liter with more than 22%
I'm from USA, can I go by the port of Tarifa?
Yes. Now that the port of Tarifa is included in the Schengen agreement,
citizens of all countries can travel from this port. Please consult with
your home country whether or not you need a visa to entry Morocco.
What happens if I bring merchandise back into Spain?
The general guidelines for customs are as follows:

Goods with a value of up to 175€ are tax exempted (see also Duty Free info).

Otherwise these are general taxes that have to be expected to be paid:

- Carpets 8% on value + 16% VAT
- Wooden craft work 3% on value + 16% VAT
- General Moroccan craft work 5,6% on value + 16% VAT
- Chilabas 12% on value + 16% VAT
- Furniture +16% VAT
